I find it disturbing that as the "premiere" waterfowl magazine in the country you would oppose this price increase. You more than anyone should know how important the money raised by the sale of the stamps is to our beloved sport. I am now glad that I haven't renewed my subscription to your magazine and will not do so in the future. What a disappointment.

I shot a 870 for years 30 years ago and then it was stolen from my truck. Bought a Browning BPS. LIke the 870 much better. It just feels like a natural and its frugal but adequate. I bought a Reminton 1100 decades ago ad it woulkdn't eject. Hence, I went to the pump. Understand the autos are much more dependable now. The
Browning Sweet 16 gold trigger is probably my favorite for quail

Really, this is EXACTLY what I have been thinking about all duck season. I load my own nontoxic loads (Ecotungsten and/or ITX) for my 28 gauge double. Knowing how a shot string will perform out of different chokes will determine quick kills vs clean misses. Over the summer the pattern board will see different propellents, different wads, and different shot size & shape for a variety of chokes. This, coupled with regular sporting clay sessions will improve your shooting. Indeed, this comes from a hunter trying to hit more ducks by doing his homework.

One thing I keep hearing as I research is too much constriction can be worse than not enough at the place I shoot, many of the guys that win money often shoot with a choke bigger than the minimum. Too much constriction destabilizes the shot/wad. I have heard some legendary things about the cutts system but other guys say otherwise. Plus the other shooters are competing so don't take "friendly" advice at face value.

Did you get the American model w/out the comfortech stock? That's the only way you would be able to get an SBEII for that price.

I recently e-mailed Mossberg with this question, and was told that I could shoot rifled slugs through an Improved Cylinder choke.
