There were some pretty exciting things to see at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas—an old school Volkswagen bus with a mini-gun mounted atop it, an all-terrain wheelchair with tank treads and a bazillion other new gadgets and toys to drool over.
But since you can’t legally take down birds with a mini-gun, VWs aren’t very good in the mud and Batman-style wheel chairs are a little pricey, we also kept track of all the new and impressive shotguns released for 2013. Here’s our list of the hot new shotguns from the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
Benelli M2 Field Compact
Benelli was at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas to show off their new M2 Field compact shotgun, which is especially designed for people of smaller stature. The M2 features a 24-inch barrel and the option to attach different size recoil pads or even a different length butt stock—an ideal fit for growing youth. The M2 is available in 12- and 20-gauge models.
Benelli Montefeltro Synthetic
Benelli was at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas for the release of its new Montefeltro Synthetic shotgun. Benelli added the Synthetic model to their popular Montefeltro line to give it that added robustness in the field, especially during wet conditions. It makes a perfect shotgun for the duck blind or in any severe outdoor situation. The Montefeltro Synthetic, which is available in 12-gauge, will be available in March.
Beretta was at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas for the release of its new 692 over-under shotgun, which is the successor to the ever-popular 682.
The 692 has series of weights in the stock that are adjustable for each shooter, features a high-grade walnut stock and an over-molded top lever with a textured finish for better traction. Featuring premium Beretta Steelium performance barrels, the new 692 is the latest in Beretta technology.
Browning BT-99 Micro Midas
Browning introduced the new BT-99 Micro Midas at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, which features a compact 13” length of pull stock and beavertail forearm in satin walnut. The stock is scaled down to comfortably fit smaller shooters. The BT-99 also includes a Vector Pro lengthened forcing cone, recoil pad and ivory front and mid-bead sights. Chrome plated chambers are also included on the BT-99 to resist wear and corrosion for years of shooting. Barrel lengths offered include 28 or 30 inches.
CZ 612 Pump
CZ-USA was at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas for the reveal of their new 612 pump shotgun line. CZ had the Wildfowl model on hand at the trade show floor, which features the Next camo pattern. The 612 line is fitted for 3 1/2-, 3-, and 2 3/4-inch shells and has already been a part of several national championship competitions.
Franchi rolled out its latest over-under shotgun at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, introducing the Franchi Aspire. Available in 28-gauge or .410, the Aspire features interchangeable barrels with a receiver that’s rounded and color case hardened. An ideal upland bird hunting shotgun, the Aspire sports a safety connected to the barrel selector, a thin forend and a thin, Prince of Wales style pistol grip; altogether, the Aspire shoulders very smoothly and comfortably. The Aspire will be available in March.
Remington Versa Max Sportsman
Remington was at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas for the launch of its new Versa Max Sportsman shotgun.
The Versa Max Sportsman features the same gas operating system as the original Versa Max, comes with synthetic stock in multiple schemes and a recoil pad that cuts recoil by up to 50 percent.
Stoeger was at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas for the release of the new Longfowler side-by-side shotgun. Engineered with 30-inch barrels and available in 12-gauge, the Longfowler is ideal for the waterfolwer who needs to knock down a bird at the edge of the decoys. The Longfolwer comes with a stain-darkened hardwood stock and has the look and feel of the type of traditional waterfowl gun that our fathers and grandfathers grew up with. The Longfowler will be available this March.
TriStar Viper G2
TriStar introduced its brand new semi-auto shotgun at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the TriStar Viper G2. TriStar’s flagship firearm, the Viper G2 is available in a variety of gauges and finishes—including synthetic, camouflage, silver and wood—and features three Beretta/Benelli choke tubes, a fiber optic sight, and each shotgun ships with a shim kit. Based on the Winchester SX3, the Viper G2 can go up to 1,000 rounds between cleaning.
