Contest Corner: Florida State Duck Calling Championships Results
The Florida State Duck Calling Championships kicked off last week with their first ever contest, and it was a hit; with three callers punching their tickets to the World's Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas. (Photos courtesy of Adam Pierce.)

A talented field of callers took to the panhandle this past weekend to compete in the first ever Florida Duck Calling Championships. The contest brought in callers from 11 different states to compete, with three chances for contestants to punch their tickets to Stuttgart. Mason Tait had a banner event, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (along with his given partners) in the Two-Man Meat Duck contest, as well as winning the Deep South Regional.

Grant McDougald also had a successful weekend, with a second place finish in the Deep South Regional, as well as a win in the First Coast Regional.

The judging panel consisted of Seth Fields, Ronald “Stump” Laun, Charles Petty, Jimbo Ronquest, and Michael Steinmeyer. While Kile Jones, the now 3x World Goose Calling Champion served as emcee.

Adam Pierce spearheaded the event, and despite some drama after the event surrounding the judging of the meat duck contest, the contest was a success, especially for a first-year event! The sponsors of the event were Makers Call Company, Fowler Hide Supply, DemerBox, Baldwin Home Group, FireTech, ECO Outfitters, Ducks Unlimited, Nalley GMC, Red Mist Display, Muddy Feather Taxidermy, FL Camo, Muller Chokes, Dry Pocket, Residence Inn, and Florida Duck Hunters.
