7 Best Choke Tubes for 2015

7 Best Choke Tubes for 2015

The evolution of the interchangeable choke system by shotgun manufacturers has increased drastically over the years, with the versatility and innovative designs. They have saved shotgunners a lot of money in the process.

No longer is it necessary to buy extra barrels for all your shotguns to have different choices in chokes; today's guns come with a variety of screw-in choke tubes that can be switched with a twist of the wrist.

Choke tubes will not make you a better shot, but they will give you more uniform patterns and more distance while hunting. Always be sure to check them out before going into the field or the range.

Here are 7 newly-designed shotgun choke tubes for 2015 that are defiantly worth checking out:

Choke tubes for shotguns

Buck Gardner EXR | Briley

Most duck hunters live to put birds in the hole, but as the season goes on — and ducks wise up — sometimes you have to stretch the barrel. So when the greenheads won't cooperate, screw in a Buck Gardner EXR, made with the same straight rifling Briley uses in its turkey choke tubes. The .025 constriction delivers more pellets on target at longer distances, perfect for noncommittal fowl.

Choke Tube options for guns

TST | Carlson's

Featuring triple shot technology (TST), a series of three graduated rings in the parallel section of the choke, Carlson's Creamator reduces pellet deformation and delivers a shorter shot string for lethal kill shots.

TST allows a more gradual transition from the bore to final constriction at the muzzle, which makes for better patterns. Constructed of 17-4 stainless steel, the choke tubes are available in ported and non-ported in close-, mid- and long-range.

Choke Tube Systems for Guns

Waterfowl Choke Tube System | Hevishot

We stacked up the snows in Missouri last spring with the extended-range choke and a case of Hevi-Metal, killing some of the white geese at eye-popping distances.

Available in ported and non-ported versions, the mid-range is awesome for birds working in tight, and the ER is a better option for late-season honker hunts or blasting sky-high snows.

Made from 17-4 stainless steel, the choke tubes are engineered to perform best with Hevi-Shot ammo, but will shoot any non-toxic well.

Choke Tubes for Hunting Season

High Flyer | Kicks

Increase pattern performance while reducing muzzle jump and felt recoil with the High Flyer. Kicks' 135-degree diagonal porting is angled away from the shooter, reducing side blasts while the inside forward lip grabs, stabilizes and slows wads for faster separation of wad and shot column. Manufactured from 17-4 stainless steel and CNC-machined to precise tolerances. Black Cloud shooters should check out the non-ported Vortex.

Perfect Choke Tubes for Hunting

Fatal Shot | Mojo Outdoors

Rob Roberts makes you a better wing shot, period, so Mojo teamed up with the revered choke maker to produce the Fatal Shot line. The result: more dense, uniform shot strings and cleaner kills. Available in short-, medium- and long-range, each 17-4 stainless steel tube is precisely designed using state-of-the-art computerized pattern analysis.

Choke Tubes for Duck Hunting

Black Cloud Choke | Patternmaster

If you look closely at the end of most duck guide's gun barrels, you'll likely see a Patternmaster. It's a tried and true brand, which is why ATK/Federal teamed with PM to create a tube that specifically performs with the Flite Control wad.

The Black Cloud choke delivers full patterns out to 60 yards, and is compatible with all brands of lead, steel and other non-toxics. Made in the U.S. from 17-4 stainless steel.

Precision Hunter | TruLock

High-velocity shotshells are all the rage, so it makes sense choke makers keep pace. For hunters who love the increase in knockdown power and decrease in lead that a 1,700 fps load offers, check out the Precision Hunter.

Trulock engineered this choke to pattern speeding shot more consistently at longer ranges. It's made from 17-4 stainless steel, CNC-machined from solid bar stock and heat treated to 200,000 psi.
