The first-ever Duck Lander Call Co. Summit’22 was recently held at the Duck Lander Call Co. shop in Wellsville, Kansas, on Saturday, June 4, 2022. This free, fun, family-oriented event featured games, free hot dogs, a free calling clinic, and lots of fowl talk. Industry friends Lucky Duck and TETRA Hearing were also in attendance to showcase their products.

Answering the Call Duck Lander Call Co. owner Bobby Hayes said the event was a long time in the making, but a huge success. “We started building our new call shop in February 2020 and planned to have a big event later that summer but then COVID hit, and we had to cancel. We did have a smaller grand opening last summer, but Summit’22 was the first major public-facing event we’ve had since the new shop was completed. We put it together with customer appreciation as our main goal. We had a great turnout—despite the high gas prices—with people coming from as far away as Texas and South Dakota. We wanted to create an opportunity for folks to visit our shop, test out calls, and just have a place to talk about waterfowl hunting. Unlike the overcrowded shows, this was more of a relaxed, intimate experience for everyone to spend a little more time together one-on-one.”
Midwest Mammoth Hayes mentioned how this inaugural event also served as a release for his newest duck call creation, the LT Mammoth Cut, a brand-new call model that was designed to sound like a cutdown but run like a traditional j-frame. “This new hybrid call is based on something I made several years ago with some new modifications. It’s built upon the LT platform, so it’s not hard to blow, but has an aggressive soundboard like a cutdown for those loud barks, choppy feed, and deep end rasp that duck hunters are always after.” Duck Lander Call Co. also released their brand-new M-Series lineup of molded calls that are now direct replicas of their acrylic model cousins.
