Pro-Drive took the "bigger is better" mantra to heart when teaming with Briggs & Stratton to offer the new Marine Series 36 Vanguard Big Block V-Twin motor. The surface-drive motor features digital CDI ignition, which allows the motor to run at a low idle. Low, idle speed is ideal for a variety of duck hunting tasks, from retrieving decoys and chasing crippled birds in deep water to carefully navigating tight turns in a dense cypress slough. A 20/50 amp alternator maintains battery power to run extra electronic gadgets such as a spotlight, GPS, radio or depth finder.
Pro-Drive motors are known for full-power reverse, which rotates the lower unit so that the prop provides all the power and torque in reverse that it does in the forward position. The Marine Series 36 uses the automatic full-power reverse system, which, introduced last fall, rotates the lower unit with the touch of a switch -- a big time-saver, especially for hunters running console-steering models.
